Judging players after one game...
Got to love WHO.

There are more post-Euro '96ers on here than a fucking coach load of divs heading to THE VALLEY to watch CHARLTON ATHLETIC.

Trevor,

I think you're right that during the period that Lanzini and Payet were out that we were more defensive, but that was mainly because we had Song or Obiang in the midfield.

Antonio didn't play at right back at all during that period, luckily, seeing as he was one of our only goal threats. I don't think he played full back or wing back until March.

Nagel,

also for many of the games he played at right back we had lost payet and lanzini, so our outlook was one much more not losing at the time, because maybe we didnt have the players up front to win.

"Antonio has started 12 games at right back.... we've won 2 of them (against Watford B team and Domzale) conceding 24 goals in the process and having 1 cleansheet the other Thursday"

He was right back in the wins against Man Utd and WBA, and wing back against Spurs and Everton as I recall. I think we've now lost 3 league games in total when he's been played at right back.

Certainly not saying he should be playing there at all but too much gets blamed on him and they're usually just the kind of mistakes which we also saw a fair amount of from Cresswell and Jenkinson last year.

A lot of our poor defensive displays in the last 12 games were due to not having a decent holding midfielder at least as much as any back 4 problems. I would have hoped that Nordtveidt would have solved that problem but jury's definitely still out on that one.

never seen so much knicker wetting on here.......

Erm sorry oh yes i have.

It is one game. Yes we played shit and several individuals played very shit but we hung in there despite playing poorly we still managed to get level.

Then the ref did what he did last season (same ref who failed to send off Schmeichal and Vardy) and fucked us over with the Costa and Kante incidents. That was incredible how the ref kept them both on the pitch.

To react after last night and after 12 games of that nonsense decision and say that we are pissed off with him playing in that position is not a knee jerk reaction... it's a feeling that has carried on since the end of last year!

Re: Judging players after one game...
'judging'? Or do you not mean offering an opinion on said players performance last night on a football forum?

If by 'judging' you mean by writing players off then name names and put up a c&p of the post(s)...if not stop being a cliquey cunt and fuck off back to Peru.

Re: Judging players after one game...
I think Nordveit has played CB all the games for us so far so why play him in new role against one of the best PL teams away? Is Obiang injured? If not then Bilic has to really be in for some critism.

How dare us supporters slag off the players when they play shit. How dare we criticise the manager for his tactics. How dare they charge me to watch them every season.

I'm not one for shitting on players, especially after one game, but I really do wonder what Tore brings to the table, his stats have been bang average everywhere he plays..

The players are not crap but the system we often play is for those we have. We've not looked like a team that knows how to play with each other large parts of last season as well as this and this has been masked by some good performances by Payet, Lanzini and Antonio as well as some fantastic wins. We aren't a team comfortable enough on the ball.
We'll get better I'm sure but if we are going to concede possession so easily and invite teams on then it's going to be hard to get results.

Have some faith and support the players as we are a different prospect when playing confident and with the fans behind them.

How dare anyone be disappointed that we lost our season opener and our new signings (except the left back) were all shite in the first game

Judging players after one game....
.....against one of the world's most expensive teams
.....one of the favourites for the title
.....full of international footballers on ridiculous wages with a long list of caps and trophies
.....with a top class manager
......away from home with several players missing

But....you know we'd have won if we played Antonio, the bloke who's only had half a season in top flight footballer ever, on the right wing against them....and Bilic not doing this one thing cost us the entire game!

Proper delusional fans our lot these days. Expecting a win every game, and if we don't deliver Bilic has lost the plot, should be sacked, the board should be ashamed.
